about.
my story.
In 1998, my family and I came to this country for a better life – an opportunity to not only chase dreams but make them come true. I was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas Mexico, daughter of Agustin and Patricia Corres – a family of actors – growing up with a thirst to find my footing in the industry. I have had a love for the arts since I was a little kid and discovered I too had a calling for the craft when casted in my first play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It wasn’t until my early 20s that I realized what I loved most was the action behind the camera and the importance to make a true connection with the audience. The ability to take a story and develop it into something someone (even just one person) can relate to is an unexplainable feeling. It was then when I decided I had a voice that needed to be heard, people to reach, and the need to translate all these emotions into meaningful stories.
With this newfound passion of being behind the scenes, I began to develop, produce, and direct my very own projects as well as produce other films from local artists. You can see some of my work being screened in several national and international film festivals where we have won best film, best actor, best ensemble, and more. I have also had the opportunity to work in large scale productions in different capacities (PA, 1st AD, UPM, and Project Coordinator) like feature films with Netflix, and smaller scale productions like indie feature films and short films. My production experience has allowed me to be exposed to all aspects of pre and post production where I have lead projects from concept development with script revisions, handled budgets, and coordinating schedules to overseeing post production in editing phases.
My producing and directing career has benefit from my acting background. As a creative that started in the industry as an actor, I am still always working on my craft. Continuing to work on narrative and commercial work allows me to tap into another side of the process and strengthens my ability to communicate with the cast and crew. Being an actor, I can relate to the process an actor has to dive into and am able to push people to discover new things within themselves and their performances. I have found that creating visually entertaining films that translate complex emotions is my main goal when filming. When I am on set, it is equally important and exhilarating for me to collaborate with the crew and understand the technical aspects while finding innovative ways to portray a feeling.
With every opportunity I had, I learned valuable and tangible lessons that I have carried with me in my own projects. For the past several years, I have focused on narrative work with a concentration on drama. I have a passion for interpreting a script, collaborating with cinematographers and actors, and creating an experience for the audience that is captivating and introspective. I am always locked in and ready to focus on my next projects where I will continue tell meaningful stories without being afraid to touch on topics that are important to our society – equality, social justice, and cultural relativism.
